I have a 2N with a generator that doesn't work. (bad rotor). Someone gave me a working 9N Generator, but it doesn't mount up because the bracket for the spring tension rod doesn't match the holes on the 9N. Here's the question, Can I switch the guts from the 9n into the 2N or should I dril and tap the 9N so the bracet on 2N bracket fits. Thanks for any help. RG

'39-'47 have the same bracket. 9N/2N same. in reply to Ron G, 09-27-2004 07:30:46
I think you're not understanding how it goes together. You shouldn't have to drill a thing.
There's a strap that goes around the body of the genny and it can move around. The bracket on the engine wraps around the corner of the head and does not stand up but rather hangs down.
Get clarication if you don't understand but don't start drilling holes.

Ron..... ..don't change the genny gutts. Change the genny bracket. You should be clever enuff to figger out how to change/modifey the genny bracket to fit your engine without having to drill and tap your engine..... ...Dell

I ment drill/Tap the 9N generator to mount the bracke, not the engine.
