Just removed a sherman overdrive from 9n to put in one of my 8n, No wonder these trans are so expensive, you gotta get something for the time that it takes to remove and replace one.It has the rare cable shift. I prefered the over and under, but this one will have to do for now. I have done alot of reading about these trans, but have not read any direction on how install one. Did not know that a person had to dismantle them to remove and replace. Thank reading and any replys, Wendell

Wendell, yeah, they are a little labor intensive to remove or install. Not a job for an inexperienced wrench slinger or the faint of heart. I bought a couple tractors specifically to remove the Shermans, clean up and tune up, and then resell. Yeah, I made money on both deals when I resold the Shermans, but by the time I figured my labor for doing a split, I was working way too cheap. It's worth doing if you want to keep the unit for your own machine, though. John Smith has some pretty thorough installation instructions on his website for both the combos and the single range units. Follow the link below to his Sherman page and then follow the links there for the applicable tranny.
