I just found a clutch release problem

It may be what you are seeing.
The shifter fork, behind the release bearing, is pinned to the hollow clutch release shaft. The ends might be plugged with crud and painted over but the shaft is hollow. Anyway, the pin wallowed out the shaft so the fork slips on the shaft. I lost at least 1/2" travel of the release bearing and the clutch will not completely disengage. I can adjust this clutch any which way but without that 1/2" the release bearing will not go forward far enough to completely depress the clutch levers.
The end of the shaft and the split bushing are worn also and that adds more slop between the pedal and the pressure plate levers.
Probably late for you but there it is for what it's worth.
