I was working my 27 ton wood splitter pretty hard the other day. She stumbled on a big 'ol cedar log and after I was finished, I noticed a small amount of hydraulic fluid dripping from the bottom. The drip stopped and hasn't started again. I can't tell where it came from, but seems to be comming from the pump. Is this normal? Thanks for answering my OT!----Rob

Does that system have a relief valve? Is it set higher than the pump rated pressure? Could have beel a leak at the shaft seal.. I've seen other pumps lek there when deadheaded.. I guess you are lucky something leaked.. HYD fluid doesnt compress real well (grin), and if you have 'too much' you either get a blown hose, cracked casting, or leaking seal.
