For the longest time I haven't been in the habit of shutting off the fuel shutoff valve, until I started reading here. Now I am in the habit of shutting off the gas and letting the carb run dry until it stalls, and then cutting off the key. Logically, I figured this was the way to go, but it makes it real hard to start the next time, especially if its cold. Do you guys drain the carb like this (by running it until it stalls)? Or is this bad? What is the best way to go?--Rob

I run mine dry every time unless I am certain that I will be starting it again soon. Otherwise I may not start it for some time and gasoline evaporates quickly the days leaving varnish.

Shut it off when you shut it down. Shut it off and run it dry when you put it in storage.

I always shut the fuel off and never run it dry. Starts right up and I do not lose any fuel, its too expensive to waste.

I really don't think runn'n the carb. dry is necessary each time you want to shut-down the engine. Turning off the fuel valve is still a good practice, though. Since I am blocked from the Forum, I just cheat a little on AOL.

Must have been petitioned for writting instead of just monitoring. I don't think I really DID ANYTHING BAD, though. I tried to find out, but the management refused to tell me. SO, I QUIT.
Been restoring a house in OLD PENSACCOLA, FL. Was just taking a break from the job site, from time to time. I hope this message gets to YA.
