domed pistons?

I have an opertunity to get a set of domed pistons for my 8N. Would appreciate any input of pro"s and con"s in doing this. I am going to rebuild anyway and just want to know if it will make much of a difference good or bad. I"m sure the increased compression translates to some extra power but will this cause extra stress to the lower end and starter?

Bob, are you referring to the super power kit that was available years ago with the deflector on top of the pistion? These will work. You could use a glob of play dough on top of the piston, bolt the head back on with the head gasket, remove the head and measure the play dough. Also, there has always been two head gaskets available 8N6051A and 8N6051B and there is a different thickness in the two.

The N piston is domed to begin with in the standard piston and it will not stand any more dome than the standard dome. Even the standard domed piston has been known to hit the head if over about .020 is taken off the head.

What are we considering Domed Pistons because when I had the head off mine the other day they were all identical. There was a slite dome affect to all of them. Is this not standard? Would the normal pistons be flat on top? If so then I guess I have domed pistons.
