You"ll probably want to remove the governor but the manifold can stay.

OK Thanks--looks like a tight place to work but if you can do it this way, I sure had rather not touch the manifold..

I"d much rather leave the manifold in place just so the devil does"t jump up and I don"t have to fuss with those gaskets. I might remove the carb but I can"t remember. I think I do; it"s easy to pull off.

It"s no big deal to change the cover gaskets with the manifold in place. The arms on the governor do get in the way so I move that.

Easy does it tightening both the cover studs and the governor bolts. I use a torque wrench on the covers (8-10ft.lbs) and governor (6-10ft.lbs) and just a little silicone gasket goop on the governor gasket (1/16" bead down the centerline).
