You *might* be able to adapt something from the newer XT600 engines that have electric start, but unless you've got a machinist working for free and can get your parts for next to nothing, you'll probably quickly spend more than the TT is worth. I'm only guessing that there's enough similarity in the engines to make that a feasable idea, as I'm not that familiar with the big Yamaha four stroke singles. It would probably be easier to install the XT600 engine (AFAIK, the 660 in the Yamaha quads is based on the same motor and has e-start as well) in your TT, but then if you've got the donor XT, why not just stick with it? Ultimately, if e-start is that important to you, your best bet is going to be to sell the TT and purchase something with e-start. All that said, once you learn the technique for starting a big thumper, it's really not that difficult. As to your bike not running now, clean the carb, paying particular attention to the pilot jet and it'll run. good luck, Craig
