Tractor has been charging fine untill 2 days ago. Thought was just loose belt so I finally installed the correct lower hose so I could tighten belt. Well belt was not the problem now I need help to trouble shoot regulator or generator. I only have voltage at the battery terminal on the regulator. What should I look for and how should I test????

Have you tried to ark the regulator? Do you have a single post or a 3 post genny? If arking the regulator doesn't start it charging, you should do a motoring test on the genny. Do you have a 6V positive ground? Need a little more info to explain those processes.

It is 6 volt positive ground system. I have the 3 post generator. Regulater looks relativly new and I have tried polarizing.

Bob..... ....well you haddtoo move yer genny to slacken yer belt to replace it, didn't you? Sometimes manhandling that genny, you break the wires or short the insulated side field terminal. Thats where I'd be fer lookin'.

I doubt that you've mucked up yer voltage regulator, and you can always re-polarize as manytimes as you think you have the need ...but... the squarecan voltage regulator isn't exactly bullett-proof. ($30, cheap)..... ...Dell
