I have had my 1941 9N for about 4 years. It does everything from brush hog (w/ORC of course), disc, plow, rear blade and I even have a front bucket.

Well besides a battery and wires this thing just keeps running. I don't want to jinx myself because I know its part luck and part a GREAT design. BUT after sitting all winter all I did was reconnect the battery add fuel and after 2 (yes 2) turns it started and never died. WOW! Now in perspective my 2004 Cub Cadet lawn tractor cranked so many times before it started I was not sure it was going to catch, it did but nothing like my FORD!

Just had to brag! Fingers crossed it does not bite me in the rear for bragging but I know you all will understand.

Funny thing I got done planting a food plot on Sunday and I started to tell my wife how much I love that tractor and she said "You know every time you use that tractor you tell me the same thing. You are amazed at how a 60 plus year old tractor can run so good."

OK I guess I am hooked.

Regards,
Bill

I continue to be impressed with how much work one of these N's can do. I was born in '46 and my tractor was "born" in '51. Hard to believe my 8N is only 5 years younger than I am. I've had it over 25 years and have worked it hard, and it's still going strong. I've got a Wagner loader on it, and today it helped me pull a "little" 3'x 4'x 2' boulder out of what will be a new tractor road in my woods. I'm sure that chunk of NH granite weighed at least a ton. It was so heavy that the loader couldn't lift it completely off the ground but I got one end up enough to pivot it out of the hole it was in. Love my N !!!

I'm with you, that's why there are so many N's still working in the field. My next "new" lawn tractor is going to be an N or Farmall Cub with a belly mower. I can't afford to keep buying new MTD's every 5-6 years, or fixing them all the time. Just spent $60 on new drive belts for my 4 yr old mower.... N Parts are cheaper than MTD parts!

Yep, I bought my '49 8N to replace my MTD.
So I know first hand about those MTD mowers.

Hope I am still going as strong
when I am as old as my 8N.
