I was able to fix the non-charging mystery. I re-polarized and all is well now....go figure. It kinda had me stumped. Glad we have this forum! Wonder what would have caused the spontaneous "de-polarization"?

Anyway, I hogged the field until way after dark with the lights on and the battery kept up just fine. I really have to say that in July, brushhoggin after sunset is really where it's at. Smart thinkin' puttin those lights on there Henry! Now I just wish I had one on the back!

10-4 on the Ol' Hogging After-Dark routine! A few years ago during a particularly HOT spell, I was forced to bush-hog a HUGE field to abate the JohnsonGrass Problem. (It's ILLEGAL here in VA) We were between rent-farmers, and the grass was getting over 6 feet tall in places. During the day, it was impossible, as the sun was beating down and the temps were over 100 degrees. Unfortunately, at the time I did not have the lights rigged, my Dad had removed them to allow the Dreaded Ferguson Manure Loader to work. And failed to re-install them. So was forced to make do with a flash-lite duct-taped to the hood. Imagine me at 2:00 am out there hogging!! But, it was done!! Now, the farmer keeps the weeds down, and I only have the pasture, road verges, barnyard, etc, etc, etc. Hell, the tractor is about my age and deserves a break, hehehe. (I just wish I was in the same good shape as the tractor, hehehe.) One of the things I did when I re-did this tractor was to put the lights back on!! (After restoring them) Makes a world of difference, especially with the nice 12V sealed-beams!

In My County, the mere possession of Johnson Grass is illegal. Not that I agree with that, but it is the law! My ex-wife's father almost caused a riot at the Local Southern States Store when he went there for a 50# bag of JohnsonGrass seeds! Apparently, where he was from (Alabama) they grow it for fodder. Before the local farmers could lynch him, somebody set him straight. Personally, I think the government has better things to do than monitor our crops! But, alas, I don't run this country! (Wouldn't have the job if it was offered) Anyway that's why I was out mowing the stuff at night! Still have a few stalks, because the geese & other migratory waterfowls keep re-seeding it in their droppings. So, it can't ever be totally eradicated. Especially since it is growing in the county right-of-way, while they track down local private land-oners and make them get rid of it. Typical!! But, that's a whole different rant, hehehe.
