Round here the usual farm back in the day was the 160acre quarter-section. Down in the bottoms that was all tillable while up in the hills it was all pasture or meadow land. Don"t suppose many made it on 160acres of pasture. Anyway, this quarter had a 20-acre hay meadow, 62-acres of pasture, and near 75-acres of cropland. Any idea how many hours/year it would take an N to farm a quarter section? Biggest part of this quarter is now a rural-residential housing development with the biggest house so far at 6,400 sq.ft.
I"m down to 9- acres so I don"t run my N 100-hours/year; not even close now I went to chemical weed control rather than mowing. How many hours/year you put on your N and what are you doing with it?

I put close to 100 hours a year on mine just clearing snow! Other than that, it might see another 30-40 hours a summer cultivating or mowing. I've got bigger tractors for actual field work, and loader work, and a ZTR mower for yard work.

10 acres, 3 open in garden/grass. No snow this year, so no plowing. Not much bush hogging. Lots of grass cutting (2 hours a week, May-Oct) and a fair amount of garden work. But, I've got 3 N's, one 1950 frontmount w/ no proof meter & a 51 w/ a loader that does not get a lot of work, maybe 15 hours a year. The 50 frontmount probably gets 15-20 hours a year. The 50 w/ the proof meter, used almost exclusivly for grass cutting, has 35 hours since Sept of last year. So, 3 N's, probably 70 hours a year total.

8 Acres -- about 120 hours per year, mostly mowing, plow and disc garden, snow plowing & occasional trenching with the middle buster, few hayrides for the grandkids. My old Bessie (48 8N) just keeps on chugin' away.

I"ve only got 16 acres, but my 8N has gotten a good workout this year. I have no idea how many actual hours, but now that I go to add them up to estimate them it is really adding up to more than I thought. As I think I keep thinking of more things that I did. I better change the oil!

15hrs. Snow, mine plus a couple neighbors.
18hrs Mow CREP land, 3X
3hrs Misc Mowing at neighbors
38hrs level for pole barn, move 48 yrds gravel
2hrs grade drive new gravel
2hrs pulling stupid evil honeysuckles
2hr moving big rocks and topsoil
1hr grading/cultivate new garden by barn
8hrs Mow around house, gardens and paths 3x
6hrs Plowing, disc, 2x cultivate 0.5 acre "garden"
8hrs stationary pump water during drought 2x
4hrs scrape corn stubble in rain for seed drilling
5hrs move corn stubble later
2hrs filling low spots
1hr goofing around arranging implements in barn
2hrs just messing around riding it for fun.

117 hrs estimated so far. I"ve got more to do this year yet too. Probably get less use next year since I won"t be building a barn or planting CREP.

Probably only 20 to 25 hrs per year. Mostly brushhoggin and scraping snow, a little gardening.
