8N W/Funk 6 Cyl Conversion, Who wants one?

I may have access to an 8N with a Funk 6 cylinder(flat head) conversion done. The tin is very good, tires fair, don't know about the motor yet other than it is complete and not "too" rusty. Owner says it ran fine when parked but has been sitting a few years. It is an early Funk with the beam type rails and tin oil pan. It does have the word "Funk" below the starter. Any advice on what one might be worth would help and would like to hear if anyone may be interested if I decide not to. I'm intrigued by the tractor but don't want to get in too deep.

Big Mike,

Funk offered an optional, I believe 10 gallon, gas tank that bolted under the hood behind the stock 8N tank. The sixes are thirsty animals!

Hi again,
I went and looked at the tractor again today in the rain and it looked even better than before! The engine is free but we couldn't get it to turn over. The tin really is in remarkable condition, though faded. The guy is asking $3,000 but who knows what he'll take. The tractor is in "the middle of nowhere," but I could get it to Richmond, VA if someone is interested. I still haven't decided yet if I want it, and would like to see if it'll run first. I also found out today that it has the optional fuel tank as well as the "turbine" style pre-filter for the air cleaner. Thanks to those who have responded.

I never saw a cracked block; stuck engine; parts missing POS that didn't "run fine when it was parked".

at least check the fluids for contamination; make sure it turns over either with a wrench on the crank nut or a battery jump; and look the cast over really well for welds, brazing, other evidence of damage.

parts for that six are going to be less available than for the flat head four so make sure you at least start off with something repairable

your mileage may vary

Hi BCjr, I traded a Suzuki 4WHLR and a $1,000.00 for mine about ten years ago, but it ran then. I had never heard of one back then, so was quite interested, was glad to get rid of japaneese product also. Mine has a Hupp aux. tranny and original lights, and a bucket type seat that I have'nt seen before. I still think it is one of the best deals I ever made. From what I've read or heard there where only 5,000-5,500 of these made, 500 of them were V-8's. So what are they worth? I don't know, does it have an aux. trans. ? Those are about $500 value. I guess it would depend on if you wanted another project and how bad. I would think the Funk would be worth $1,500.00.

I just bought a early 8N w/flat head 6 cylinder conversion-can't find "funk" cast anywhere near starter-maybe a Glover-before Funk took over manufacturing conversion kits. also has a sherman over-normal tranny, paid 2500 running everything works well. has the ford industrial engine model 7HNN, hope this helps, what's too deep?
