Lot's of folks here will be glad to help, but you need to give us some more info. Is the distributor on the front of the engine or on the side, and is it a 6v or 12v? When was the last time it ran and what were the symptoms when it stopped?

Narrow it down a bit further. does it have a front mount distrib ( 4 nipple cap ) or a side mount distrib ( 5 nipple cap ).

When is the last time you changed the points?

try hot wireing the coil.. that is a jumper wire from the battery to the coil input. see if that helps.

If not, post back which distrib you have and we will give you specific diagnostic info.

also state if 6 or 12v and positive or negative ground... points or electronic converted ignition.

Need to get that loose screw fixed. if you are having power show up 'now and then', and that screw is loose.. it is a likely suspect.

I believe Dell has the part number for that points hold down screw.. or at least the dimensions so you can get a replacement.

Gonna have to correct that first before youcan do any more troubleshooting. That may be the only problem anyway.

Here's a quote from a post by listmember Dell: lists pointsscrew dimension and P/N:

>those #8-32 X 3/16 points screws work >themselves loose eazily. Also they're plated >brass and wear eazily and don't hold well >eather. New points screw (50c cheap) are good >idea on old tractors. And while donb carries >them, so does your local FORD AUTOMOBILE dealer >parts counter. They're shorter than common and >come with built-in lockwasher. p/n 355047-S7 >
>(#8-32 X 0.19)..... ..Dell
