I just replaced the fuel line, exhaust pipe (from manifold to muffler) and sediment bowl assembly - only to have the tractor quit running after 20 minutes or less (working or idling). I replaced the "new" sediment bowl assembly (after flushing the tank) to see if it helped, but it didn"t. The original work was done because of a minor gas line split and a shut-off valve that wouldn"t shut off. The tractor ran fine before I did this work. Now it seems like it is running out of gas after 20 minutes. It will restart after a couple of hours. Help?

Also, how far should I be opening the shut off valve? No directions came with the assembly, but there is something written on the valve knob that says open two full turns (but is written in a fashion hard to understand with a reference to a "reserve").

It would seem to me that a problem with gas line delivery would not let it run for 20 min. Perhaps the tank vent is clogged? I agree with the check for spark.

Could be that when you did that work to it, that you might have broken some junk loose in the line and its clogging the filter in the carb inlet. Or it could be some other problem that just happen to pop up now but was going to be there any way. When it dies check for a good spark just to make sure you don't have a problem there. Then also check for gas flow from the drain plug. One of the 2 things should tell you which way to look from there.

Something like 1-2 turns for run.. then another turn for open.. I've seen a few different ones on different tractors. Also.. seen finicky ones that brand new.. had to be screwed all the way open to get gas.

Pull the plug in the carb bowl to see if you are getting gas.
