Stick one in an envelope and mail it to me!

Don"t charge me that S&H though. You want that I"ll have to wait until I have an order.

Hey! Wanna trade? I got some 1944 parts. Near entire tractor. Good shape. What little thing you need I can trade?

That hole should be full of sintered bronze to keep the unfilterd air out of the engine. Keep the air out while letting the gasoline drain when you stay on the choke too long and flood that carb. The gas has to drain out and that hole is it. Not good it"s open like that. Engine sucks dusty air in that hole instead of filtered air out of the air cleaner. If you must then plug it up. Epoxy is fine. I have a carb here that has the bronze in there but it"s plugged and won"t drain the gasoline so a guy has to remove the air intake to drain the gasoline or even worse if somehow the gas tank gravity drains into the carb the gas can"t drain out that hole and fills up the air intake and the manifold and goes into the engine maybe. It will end up in the oil pan. 10-gals of gasoline into the crankcase generally pretty much FREAKS OUT the owner when he goes out to start her up and checks the oil. Some guys say the gasoline will stay in the cylinders and trying to start the engine will cause hydraulic lock and damage everything but that would take some really, really, tight rings and none of the gas goes around the valves so I don"t know about that.
I got a Chevy carburetor sintered bronze fuel filter at the auto parts store for like a buck-fifty or three and I"m trying to figure out how to use part of it to replace that plugged bit of bronze in this one carb. I need a bright idea on how to make that happen because while the form is real close the fit is not close at all.
Guy really needs a filtered hole right there because that engine will flood now and again and it might save you having to drain gasoline out of the oil pan.
You figure a good, clever way of filtering that hole then please let me know.

Hey Rob.. how about JB welding the chevy part over the exposed hole in the carb.. after you remove the old one. Once cured.. the jb will be gas resistant..

My plan is to replace the bronze filter element. I could always "rig it." I got as much "farmer" in me as anyone, more than most.

Thanks anyway.

Jeff - that must be a factory rebuilt TSX-33 carb, or someone in the past mated the top of a TSX-33 to the bottom of a TSC-241 or similar carb (they are compatable). The original TSX-33 model only had one big drain plug at the bottom. The TSX 241 series had a big drain plug and a smaller plug right next to it that lined up with the main fuel limiting jet for easier cleaning. This hole can just be plugged up until needed. I don't remember the size or thread count, but I put one on my carb and it was a standard size - so you should be able to find something pretty easily. Be sure to use a brass bolt or plug though to prevent problems with rust and corrosion.

Good luck,
Dan
