I have just replaced the lower link pins per the good advice I found here. I have the left trumpet off and I'm trying to reinstall the differential. Thought this would be the easy part. I am having trouble getting the splines on the diff to align with those on the right axle. Any special tips/tricks here?
I need to get mowing!
Thanks for the help.

I'd say Dave has it right, you'll wonder 'why all the fuss' when it does go on.... But you WILL like that the pins don't have the endless dripping when you do get it together... Good Luck, duey

Thanks Dave,
I've been at it again with no luck. I like how the manual says "installation is reverse of removal" Not for me. It practiclly fell out. I wish it would fall back in. I seems that it needs to be lifted up to get it more centered on the axle. I'll keep trying. I know this must normally be very simple as I couldn't find anything in the archive about it. Why do I get stuck on the "simple things"?

It may help to try to hold the spider gears from turning and rotate the ring gear back and forth a few inches. The problem is the splines on the axle are not engaging the splines in the differential. The other possibility is to pull the right side axle out some and put the left trumpet on. This will hold the differential up in place and you can rotate the right axle some to get it to drop in.

Thanks Paul,
Currently I have a screw jack holding up the rear of the tractor as the left trumpet is off. In order to slide out the right axle I would have to remove the right tire/wheel and drum. I believe that if you try to support the tractor with only one support at the rear the whole thing would rotate one king pin and fall over? How do you support everything with the left trumpet removed and the right wheel/tire removed? Thanks

Hey B there are no special tricks it's kinda like puttin the trans back on after changing a clutch, when it's ready it will just slip right on.When I put mine in I had both trumpets off and had a heck of a time gettin it to stay in while I set the left trumpet on.I didn't know that nothing held it there,so you are ahead of the game cause the right axle is what it rests on while you put the left trumpet on.Hope this helps.
