Ok guys, after a bit of a break from overhauling the hydraulics system on the 2N, I finally completed the task. After startup and inspection for leaks I engaged the PTO shaft and tested the lift function, seems to work fine, nice and smooth. However, it doesn"t appear to have much lifting power. I weigh 300lb and stood on the lift arms and it would not lift me from the lowest position. After it was a bout half way up it would barely lift me. I don"t think it will lift a blade.

This a list of what was replaced:
Pump ecentric cams, both valve bodies, relief valve, control valve, lift piston & seals, all new gaskets.

Any ideas?

Another thing, I used a #46 tractor hydraulic fluid. Could this be the problem? Maybe it"s just to thin.

Get yourself some non detergent mineral oil. 80 or 90 weight

Most often recommended is the 90-weight GL-1 fluid for the 8N. Im not sure what #46 tractor hydraulic fluid is, but you need to make sure you are using a combination gear oil/hydraulic fluid since your transmission and differential gears are lubed by the same stuff. Many hydraulic fluids are useless as a gear oil, usually too thin.

I think your right! The stuff I bought was strictly Hydraulic oil. I"m so used to working with pure hydraulics that I forgot about the fact the differential and transmission require a good lube as well. Duhhhh(slaps forhead)!

Guess it got a good flush but kind of expensive. LMAO
