I'm in Jackson just south of you on Hy 43. Old gave you good advice. Points must be set at .15-.17 to run there best ( .15 is the setting I set to .17 to cover for wear to the tab). Also make sure you have good gas flow through the carb. by takeing the plug out of the bottom of the carb. Breather clean . Good luck with the tractor and let us know the out come and you can get more help from the great group here.

Points need to be set at .015. You need to check a few things also. Like how good is the spark?? It needs to be a brite blue spark not a yellow looking spark. Also when its running does chokeing it help or hurt the way it runs. If it helps then its either weak spark or the carb set to lean.

I'd start out with the points and then if you still don't have a brite blue spark maybe the coil. Other things that could be causeing you trouble would be a resister going bad or a condenser going bad

Points need to be set at .015 or it messes with the timeing a little. As far as if its 6 volt or 12 volt that doesn't matter as far as the problem your haveing. What does matter it how good or bad the spark is and if its running to rich or to lean
