How many hours does it take to do this job and what are the pitfalls I may run into?
Thanks

When I used to do this type of work we rebuilt the oil pump on each engine we had apart. While it is posssiable that the block will need to be line bored we never found one that was that bad. However you will need to take the front main which houses the oil pump to have the bushing honed to the correct size.

The pan has to be dropped to get the oil pump out and the hood and front end has to come off first.
I kit can be bought to rebuild the oil pump but the new bushing must be reamed to fit the shaft after installation.

To replace the cam all the valves must be removed or the springs compressed and propped up with something like wooden dowels etc in order to move the tappets up to release the cam shaft in order to pull it out.

Bewiildered:

Rebuilding the oil pump properly requires align boring of the block because the oil pump housing, which probably will need replacement, is the front main bearing cap. Having gone to this trouble, it would seem logical to rebuild the engine entirely at the same time.
