I got my engine in and running and I am breaking the engine in. I have 6 mins on the engine so far (thanks to the northern tool tach/hourmeter).

My oil pressure is high. Above 50. Part of the rebuilt engine was a new oil pump. I am using 10w30.

How long should I wait for it to drop before I worry?

Recently did rebuild on my N. I've got maybe 10 hrs. on it. Oil pressure is over 50 cold at idle when hot and idling I'm getting around 40. Also whenhot and going down the road she goes back past 50. I'm not gonna worry about it. I'm more happy with it high than low!

My oil pressure was 50 after rebuild too. I was actually concerned about it cause it would only drop to 45 at low idle and warmed up. However, after getting it back together I bought a 6 foot finish mower. After a period of just driving it around the pasture I finally put it to work and got it "working hot". The pressure dropped to 40 and 25 at low idle. I don't have a thermostat and don't think I can completely warm up my engine without working it.

Did you replace the pressure regulating valve spring? It could have been streched by the previous owner leading to the high pressure.

No, I did not replace it.
