Sounds as if you have a bad pump. My 8N lift with a low/std Sherman will pulse when raising the lift at low engine speeds when the Sherman is in low range. Can count the piston stokes. But otherwise is very smooth.

my jubilee has done that since ive been around the tractor, about 20 years, it still works so i havent done anything to it, but that being said, a cylinder rebuild is comming because it will no longer hold the inpliments up after the tractor is shut off,and when ive worked the snot out of the tractor with a disc gang it has trouble raising the disc when its smoking hot

Lift shudder is caused by only one thing. One or more of the six pistons in the piston pump are not pumping because of a valve problem in the pumping chambers.

Of course if it has the old rotor pump it is another story but the pump is still the culprit.

I think you have the right answer, had rebuilt cylinder, and lift stays up as good as new, hope I can get the pump apart and make repair. Thanks much.

Looking at simple stuff first..When was the last time the fluid was changed? Does fluid look good and clear on the stick. Condensation or any other source of water getting into the system can cause this.

Fluid was new last year, changed seals in cylinder, and lift holds great, no sign of water in system. Probably ZANE has answer, so I guess I better pull the pump.. Thanks. EC
