Need some advice on plug wires, 47 8n front mt dist.

Went to the local ford tractor dealer and he wanted $44.00 for a set, but had a set made in India for $12.00. Came home without nothin. Would like to buy a good set but $44 seems too much, What price should a good copper set cost and any idea on where to get them.? thanks, you guys got more knowledge than britinnaca.

Dan - Another thing that I find useful, is to not only check the wires at night, but to take a spray bottle and coat the wires with water mist while running. This enhances any imperfections. Greg

You made a good choice. Obvious thieves in that business. I'd never slow down when going by there much less go in..

Just go to your local farm store and get them there.

Thanks, I didn't know what it took, but theses are aol farm tractors and built to be worked on easily. I think I will buy the $39.99 complete tuneup on this site, wires, plugs etc. proably be the best deal. I think this ole 8n is gonna run again and be pretty, this is a great board.

awadi, price 12 to 15 dollars. call the older parts stores in your area, and tell them you want metal core wires for older tractor. i get mine at car quest, they come allsize, meaning extra length, ends and wires not attached so you can custom fit any size you need. RP

What did the $12.00 set look and feel like?

It doesn't take anything REAL high-tech for these tractors, so long as the wires are wire-core.

I think many ignition wires are replaced without good reason.Check them at night for leakage. The newer carbon core wires fail but the old solid wires will go on for a long time.Cracked insulation would be the only reason I would change them.
