Hope you guys don't mind all the questions, my steering is loose on the 47 8n, haven't tore it down yet but wondered if the 48 and up steering boxes would fit if I wanted to replace it. There is about 1/4 turn steering play in it, does that sound too much to adjust? These ol 8n are addictive, the wife says I spend more time with the tractor then her..... ..thanks again for the good advice....

If you can't adjust the sector backlash out without replacing the bushings ( and bearings ).. then yes, you can drop in a late style box.
