Anybody know how much weight a boom pole will support on the back of my Ford 3000 (instead of my 8n). I know that the front wheels won't come off the ground. I nned to know -at what weight will the BP start to fold up. Thanks BB

Do you see that NAA carcass laying crosswise on the back of my trailer behind the other tractor? I picked up that whole thing with my King Kutter $30 (auction) boom pole. I have no idea what it weighed, but it had to be over 400 lbs.

I picked up my box blade (400 lbs) all the way out on the end of the pole w/no problems.

Not really sure how much they can handle, the heaviest thing I have lifted with mine so far was my Ferguson 2 bottom plow. What I CAN say though are those boom poles are more handy than an extra arm. I am finding all kinds of things to use it for at my place since my wife bought me one.

Its all according to how far you have it attached close to the end.

The closer down the boom you wrap the attachment point, the weight raises exponentially..

The farther you have it attached out towards the end of the boom, the less it can handle.

To recap.

The point that the weight pulls down on the boom makes a big difference.

A whole lot depends on the boom pole. The one I have will pick up the front end of my truck and I know thats way more then 900lbs but its also home made. By the way thats hooked up to my 841 with loader on it. The front end gets light but it will still pick it up

If you could keep your wheels on the ground you should lift that, I just had a dozer 6 way blade and frame on the back of mine this afternoon, blade hooked forward loop and comealonged to the rear of the frame to the rear loop, I used my tn55 and the wheels were off the ground but the pole was picking it, that had to be 1500+ -.also I guess it would depend on the make and age,

There are folks here that can answer that one a lot better than I can.

I'd say yer front wheels will be off the ground if it does.

I lifted a lot of 8 cylinder motors and trannies hooked together, but I wrapped the chain down to about half way (or less) of the boom (towards the tractor end).
