Rob..... .I'm glad John's engine backfire problem inspired you to ask about your non-related low compression engine problem. Ford compression specs is: 90psi min (dry). Iff'n you took your compression readings correctly (a minimum of 5-puffs) then you have CLASSIC stuck rings problem. You ask what to do? I recommend removing all sparkies and putting about 1-oz (or 25cc) of Marvel Mystery Oil down every sparkie hole. Crank the engine to spread the MMO and do it again until entire pint (1/2L) is used up. MMO is evaporative solvent and slips past the piston rings into crankcase. Where it will evaporate with hot engine oil. (once you get your engine started) Others recommend any brand of automatic transmission oil which is high detergent and will also "un-stick" piston rings. Use the same routine as MMO described. Then BEFORE you attempt to restart your engine, do another compression test. Write all these compression numbers down so you can report them back for further analysis. For reference: NEW rebuilt engines compression is about 125psi. Iff'n yer above 70psi, it should start with fast spin of 12-volt jump-start. Then install NEW SPARKIES. AutoLite 437's are recommended, check gap = 0.025" (0.65mm?). Fresh gasoline is NECESSITY. Then 12-volt "jump-start" direct to starter motor stud with tranny in NEUTRAL. Throttle about 1/4, and after crankin' a couple of turns, a QUICK pull on the CHOKE, should gitt'cha started. Report back with yer results so we can help you more..... ...respectfully, Dell uhh..... .BTW, typing in all CAPS is considered rude and shouting, but it is more important for you to get yer engine runnin' than worrying about insulting people with shouting.
