Has anyone here used a rear pull blower on a "N" tractor? I'm tired of always backing up with my old blower and this looks like a possible solution. Is it really that big of a deal to blow snow that you have already driven over? I don't think it would be much different than pulling a back blade in that respect. The local dealer quoted $3800 and I can't decide if it is worth trying or not.

Thanks for the comments.

I have been using a 72" Erskine on my 52 8n for about 5 years. The lack of live pto and being a little underpowered are made up by being able to look forward instead of getting my neck fixed after each storm. When encountering heavy/deep snow I raise the blower up 4 to 6" and take the top off on the first pass. When I get to the ground I just take a swath as wide as the N can handle. It may not be the fastest method but it works for me. Now I'm looking for another old Erskine for the 55 960 Im working on. Good luck, Nilram

I use one of the new 78inch Erskine Blowers on a MM302 tractor - about 55 HP and it can load up the tracor with heavy or frozen snow. The MM has independent PTO so I can stop to let the blower clear up. The MM also has 5 speeds and TA that lowers each gear. 1st in low is slower than slow.

I also use a older style erskine pull blower behind a 640 - 30 to 35 HP. This is a 4 speed with a non live PTO. With this unit I have to remember to lift the blower and allow it to clear itself before touching the clutch or I risk cloging the blower. Also the 4 speed is often too fast even in 1st gear. This take some getting used to and is not the best .
In the past I have used this blower on an 860 - 45HP , live PTO and 5 speed with a super low 1st. This was a great setup and worked as well as the MM.

I hope this helps you.
