I am in the process of repainting my 2n,have it stripped to bare metal. Is it necesary to use primer under the paint, also what kind of paint? Was thinking of using auto primer & paint ,friend told me I could just use a good equip. enamel with no primer. Thank you in advance for any help BOB

Hey Bob!

Dell has a good point. I am doing the same thing right now to my 2N, but I went to TSC in Lapeer MI and got some spray on rust converter, which chemically changes the rust on your metal and also primes the bare metal. Also, at TSC, they carry the original Ford Grey paint for use on these machines. They also carry the Ford Red, if you want an 8N look-a-like. Hope this helps!

BOB..... ..I'm not a painter, but it is my understanding, if you want a paint job to look right and last, and since you have stripped to bare metal..... PRIME IT!!!!! !

Guarentee you, if you just shoot it with equip enamal with no primer, it will be flaking off and rusting within a years time. If you had not stripped to bare metal, the previous paint would server as a primer of sorts, not great, but its been done many times that way for a "quickie".

Do it right the first time..... .Dell
