I saw a "V" drawbar on Ebay for the N series tractors today. Is there any real advantage to it over just hooking to the crossbar between the lift arm ends?

mr. bob, I am very interested in the arrangement you made to use a normal 8N swinging drawbar on your 2N. I have tried to make a rig for my 9N but have not been able to make it work. Could you post drawings of what you made?

Sarge..... ...the "V" drawbar conversion works well for 9N's-n-2N's for NOT having those "under-the-diffy" 4-boltholes for swinging drawbar mounting bracket. ONLY the 8N diffy has the 4-holes drawbar pulling adapter. The advantage of the diffy mounted "swinging drawbar" is NO LIFT-UP when BACKING using the 11-hole crossbar. While you can keep the 11-hole crossbar height constant (as when using the "V"-bar) with those wimpy adjustable "stay-bars", they will fold on you when backing-up..... ..Dell

I made and use an 8N style under mounted swinging drawbar on my 2N. All I had to do was fabricate a bracket to function the same as the diffy mounted bracket which boltz on an *N" or "Hundred" series. It has worked perfectly for me for several years pulling heavy loads. Those "V" drawbar contraptions are real monstrosities as I see it, I think the under mounted swinging drawbat is better beyond compairson. Mr. Bob

award..... ...dunno iff'n you have the "option" of US made or ferrin maid.

I have 2-under the diffy swinging drawbars, one came with the tractor in 1990 and is double-bent, 1-natural, 'tuther' from overload. I like my "new" (India?) swinging drawbar better and I ain't bent 'nuttin' yet. I tow 7000lb ball/socket hitched trailers around the property.

Even though the 11-hole drawbar has a "neat" advantage of hydraulic lift for picking-up trailer hitches, I don't like it 'cuz it ROTATES without a "lock" and lifts without staybars.

There is a square tube based 3-point hitch which doesn't rotate and is hydraulically liftable, but I'm happy with my under the diffy mount swinging drawbar. I did drill out the 3/4" hole for 2-5/16" ball stem. (1" dia)..... ...Dell

I'm not Dell, but I'd say nothing wrong w/ looking for an original.....& yes, the old ones are likely made tougher than the new repops. Not sure if you'd ever notice the difference unless you really move heavy stuff.

Have you thought about a swinging drawbar setup instead? It would be a safer way to move your trailers.

Jeff
