Bob, I used Rustoleum Dark Red (you can tell the shaded from the cap or label color) which came out really nice. After it dried, I put on a coat of Rustoleum Clear which made it look deep. Came out nice. Good luck.

Bob, A close to original red paint can be picked up at your local Tru-Value hardware, X0-6 bright red. I use it on implements, seems to stand up well to Fla. sun and weather. About $25 per gallon. Drys slow and flows out even can be brushed on implements and look good. Sure others out there as well.

Well shoot Bob, if all you want is a color that pleases you, go to a hardware store or paint store and play with the colors. Heck, get Home Depot to custom blend you a color if you like. They've got those thousands of paint chips to select from.

Bob I'm no expert, so only use my information if nobody else replies. It is tough to get answers to questions about painting on this site, although the other information is plentiful and very valuable. ANyway, I went to the Ford Dealership in Richmond, MI and they would have to special order the Ford Red paint (quite expensive). So, the guy at the parts desk recommended going to Tractor Supply, where they sell Ford Red. That is where I bought mine. The only catch is that paint is an acrylic enamel (great durability, but not original). Hope this helps!
