What is the proper pistin ring gap for the 8n 1948 . new pistoms and sleeve .

.007 - .017 on the top compression ring
.010 - .017 on the 2nd compression and oil rings.

Be sure to stagger the gaps 120 degrees apart on each piston.

I have always used .003" per inch of cylinder bore (diameter) to calculate ring gap. It works very well on most gas engines. For example: 4" bore x .003= .012" end gap. I've never had a problem yet.

My 1995 FO-4 IT manual says .010-.017 for all rings.
