John Deere 435 D

I am in the final process of restoration of a John Deere 435 D. As I normally restore IH tractor, I have a few questions about the Deere
series. What color are the tail and headlights? Does the yellow strip on the hood and front grill extend to the bottom of the hood and wrap around the bottom corner (rolled edge)? Are the axle shaft to be painted black? What color are the front and rear hubs?

Any other suggestions are very much appreciated.

Thanks

Before spraying paint obtain the JD publications such as the operators and service manual 1-800-52-7448. John Deere 30 series 2nd edition from Greenmagazine. Both have many photos and restoration details.
Axle shafts should not be painted at all. Rims depend if they are spin-outs.
The yellow/green areas are vital and make the paint job look goofy if messed up.
Mother Deere sells a good colour classic paint. Add a wee dab of hardener but make certain to wear skin and respiratory protection

Thanks for the advise. I will get the publication. I have another 435 D to restore next, one of the items I will be needing for it is the bearings for the steering box. Do you know if anyone sells these? I have checked and they are no longer available from Deere and Company.

Thanks

David

No, I just need to replace the steering pins and the bearings as the cup is cracked and the spacer is missing. When I rebuilt the steering box on the current 435 D I had a perfect set of bearings with good plastic separators. This 435 D was used as a loader tractor (I know its hard to believe) and the front end is totally worn out. Nothing a new front axle casting and pins and bushing cannot fix. I just need a source for the bearings.

I have a 440 ICD that I am working on which as you know is the same engine.
Just curious. Did you rebuild the engine yourself or send it out? Did you have the "N" injectors and pistons put in or stay with the "S" type?

Aw common Buickanddeere , a technical guru like yourself. What kind of advise is " add a wee dab of hardner"? Some may take you seriously!

Most people paint the axle shafts black and I have seen some clear coated. Lights should be black. This is how I painted the yellow on my 435 and as far as I know it is correct.
