Fisheyes with new paint gun

I bought the DeVilbiss Startingline 3 gun kit. I was very pleased with the primer and touchup gun. I Used the topcoat gun last night and it left a lot of fisheyes in my paint. The directions say to rinse it with lacquer thinner before use and I did. Last night after use I tore it completely down and cleaned it. Tonight it is leaving fisheyes all over my tin!! What do I do?

fisheyes are a sign of either oil/silicone contaminates on the tin, or in the airline.. water droplets can do it as well.

The crazy thing is I have painted my tractor except the tin. I never had any problems with fisheyes with my old gun, new touchup gun, or new primer gun. The new topcoat gun puts fisheyes on top of each other from top to bottom. I have not done anything different with prep work. Can it be my new gun?

Clean your gun with the same reducer or thinner you put in your paint, or a product recommended by the paint manufacturer. I am not a fan of lacquer thinner, as it doesn't cut urethane, at least not for me. As stated fish eyes are caused by oil or silicone. If your gun was over oiled, I suppose that is a possibility. Oily hands will do the same thing. If you have recently added an automatic oiler to your system for air powered tools, that will do it.

I agree with Sound guy , you are not getting fisheyes. Fisheyes are indentations or crators if you will. You cannot get "crators upon crators". If you get more the more coats you apply then it is not fisheyes but more like water spots or your paint is not properly atomizing leaving "pimples". you need to properly identify the problem before you can find the cause. When the paint is dry , are they depressions or high spots? Take a little fine sandpaper and hit it lightly and see if they "pop" or leave a shiney spot (low) or if the sand paper knocks off little pimples (high spots)If it is a crator , was it a crator when sprayed or did it become a crator after you knocked the top off with sand paper? Need more info to help you out.
