Mixing Brands

OK, I know you are not supposed to, but here is the situation. I started on this project (Farmall Cub Lo-boy) several years ago. I am finally to the point of getting it back together. When I started, our local shop was a PPG dealer so I went with the DP50LF epoxy primer on the chassis. I am obviously past the window on recoating many of the parts so I plan to scuff and shoot another coat of epoxy. We already talked about the hood/gas tank which is the only major part not in primer yet in an earlier post. Our local dealer is now a Dupont dealer. Can I put Nason over the DPLF? And since I will need another coat of epoxy (and I don't think I have enough of the DPLF anyway) should I use the Dupont epoxy or search out another PPG dealer? Thanks.

I have no proof but I think you can put any major brand of epoxy under about anything. Particularly if it is old and long since cured. I would have no problem doing what you want to do, PPG or DuPont.

Like CNKS, I don't think you would have a problem with what you want to do. I've used DuPont Centari AE over both PPG DPLF amd PPG OMNI MP epoxies very successfully. One thing I would suggest however is to check out the time window of any DuPont epoxy before you purchase it. The last time I looked into a DuPont epoxy, it had a 24 hr window. That is much less than the 7 day window of DPLF or the 3 day window of OMNI MP. If such a short window causes a problem for you, you might want to stick with PPG if only for that reason.
