Hello

I'm contemplating my first spray gun purchase. I
was wondering if anyone out there has used the Sharpe Cobalt HVLP spray gun. As a follow up question: I want to spend $125.00 or less...any suggestions on the right gun and the right needle
size for general all around tractor painting?
I have a 5 hp compressor w/ 33 gal tank.
Thanks in advance,
Ron

I'm not the painting expert, just the 1st one to answer your post. I have a Cobalt, have not used it yet--my understanding is that is mainly a primer gun, but can be used for finish coats. I know you are on a budget, but you would be better off with 2 guns, primer and topcoat. Sharpe sells refurbished Platinum guns for much less than new. Look at www.sharpe1.com (think that is right) if you haven't already.

Thanks - I haven't been to their website yet - I'll check it out. I do know that they make different nozzle sizes to accomdate different paint, but I have no idea what the characteristics
of tractor paint and primer are.

I have a 1.3 nozzle in my Platinum that will work for most paints and alot of primers. For thick primers a 1.4 or 1.5 tip would be faster but I am getting by now. If you can't afford a rebuilt Platinum you could get a new DeVibliss Finishline II gun for about $140 and they will do a good job even with clear coats. You may also want to look around on Ebay for a used gun.

Thanks Cliff - When I'm not out in the barn....I'm on eBay! I'm glad you gave me some info on the nozzles.
