801 Selecto speed Tractor Paint color

I have a 801 selecto speed Ford tractor with a serial number if 84231. I am restoring this tractor and need to know what paint colors this tractor need to be for orginal equipment. No it is not a gold tractor, I cannot be that lucky.
 
The paint codes are pretty much manufacturer specific so you need to decide which brand you want to use. They can be cross referenced.

The XX1 tractors used an orange red color. The PPG code for the orange red is 71346. The gray should be 30448, but I would check it out first. If you go with Martin Senor (sp) paint, I believe Napa probably has a color chart for tractors.

If you go to your local CNH dealer you can buy spray cans of the colors, paint a piece of metal and then have it matched. They also sell in quart and gallon size. I believe they use and acrylic enamel.

Thus, what year is this tractor? I believe it is a 1957 or 1958 with this serial number of 84231. Also when we found the serial number behind the starter we did not find the stars on each side of the numbers? is that unsual? just wondered?
 
Your serial number indicates it is a 1959, around mid production. They used diamonds before and after the serial number which only indicated the beginning and end of the number. If its not there no worries. Check John Smith's site for some good info on your tractor.

When I overhauled and painted my 961 I bought all the parts and paint from the Dorf dealer. They had the Tisco (super fade) on the shelf ready to take out with you. The counter guy picked out the correct paint color for the tractor. He said it was what all the guys were using. Looked good the first year. If I'd had room in my living room it would probly still look good.
