Sandblast cabinets

I am looking to hear from others on this. I currently have a cheaper cabinet (5 cfm @80psi). its does OK at best. I run it off a large 2-stage compressor with 15.2 cfm @ 100. My question is - what is everyone's opinion on a nicer cabinet with a higher cfm. say 10 cfm or maybe a 14 cfm cabinet I am looking at.

will they work alot better or will it affect the compressor too much.

Any opinion is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

On most cabinets the CFM is determined by nozzle size, which in turn is determined by your compressor size. Your compressor should handle 10 cfm with the right nozzle, probably not any larger. Another thing, if your compressor does not have a 100% duty cycle, you can overheat it. Give it a rest every few minutes. What you get with the better cabinets is higher quality, along with the larger size inside for bigger pieces of equipment. The better cabinet does not have to have more cfm. In other words you can use the same nozzle size you have now with a larger cabinet.

I have been looking at two blast cabnets one is a Trinco and the other is a Scatblast. You might check them out they are good quality and easy to get parts for. Just remember dont go to big or your compressor will never catch up.
