PAINTING THE COIL?

My coil on my Ford Workmaster (6V) works just fine and all but the exterior of it has some surface rust on it. Is it ok to clean it up and spray some paint on it?

I paint them all the time makes them look new no problems.

Never painted one on my classic cars and never had to think about doing it. I know,..maybe a dumb question, but who knows when it comes to tractors? Thanks fellas!
