Just wondering what the recommendations are for moisture filters for HVLP guns, or any guns for that matter. Not doing exotic paint jobs, just servicable finishes for implement builds and refurbs. I'd like the best finish, knowing that prep work determines a bunch. Thanks. Mark

Put the water trap as far away from the compressor as possible, and buy a good water trap, about $150-up. I have two traps, the first, for general use is about 80 feet from the compressor, the second one is inline with the first, for painting is another 30. I get zero water at the first one, the second is simply insurance.

in addition to my water trap, I also run disposable filters that screw on inline right at the gun.. just paint then toss.. carquest sells them in a 2 pack.. 4.99 last time I bought them..

remember to drain your tank often too.. and don't use an oiler or lines that have been on an oiler for painting.

I agree with the above posts. Have a separator as close to the paint as possible. Also, a desiccant filter is best. I also use the pancake filters that go on the end of the gun. HF has them. Also HF's purple gravity spray gun is AWESOME for the price.
