Massey Ferguson 52 Disc Restoration (Pictures)

I rebuilt my Massey Ferguson 52 disc harrow from the ground up. Documentation says this disc harrow is from the mid to late 1960's. I replaced all gang bearings (eight of them), moved the good blades from the front to the back, put new blades on the front, new cylinder, new hoses, new bumper washers in the front, sand blasted and painted. The only thing left is wheel bearings and tires that are old. I think it is as close to a new disc harrow as I can get without buying a new one.

Here are some pictures of me breaking new ground with it. Sorry for not getting pictures of it clean, I had to get it in the ground after the rebuild!

I am pulling it with my Farmall 504 in the pictures. The 504 does a good job, but now that I have the disc up to new condition, I'm probably going to put the Allis Chalmers 180 on to it. The AC 180 should play with the 10' disc where the 504 gets loaded down at times. I can post pictures of the 180 discing in the future. There is about a 20 hp diffenece between the two. I love my little 4 cylinder 504, but the 6 cyl 180 is a beast that loves fuel and would love to drag this 10' disc around!

Looks great. I can appreciate the work that went into it. I also love to see restored equipment actually being used as intended. Thanks for posting.

Even though I am not technically farming, it is fun to use. I'm leveling land for pasture and hay fields. Thank you for the compliment.
