Shouldn't be needed unless you have greasy oily hands. Sounds to me like your fisheye problem is caused by contamination in your lines/compressor or someone useing wd40 in your repair shop sometime or both. Spray some perfectl clean test panels and see if it still does it. No use re-spraying anything until you have found the problem.

I come off my compressor to a filter/water separator (3ft or less) then to deticated hose for paint gun (new and I blew it out for 5min) then to disposable desiccant canister, then to pressure gauge then gun. Also on downstream side if filter I have a tee to a drop leg with valve to blow it down. It was a new gun, I am leaning toward the fact that i may have not have got the gun clean enough.
Do you think my setup is OK. Do I need to add some pipe or hose between compressor and filter. The dessicant cartridge has not started to change colors, that is why I am leaning toward gun. I cleaned with wax and grease remover till rags were clean
Also the primer is real shiny, is that normal, I was expecting more of a flat finish like spray cans. This is my first time using epoxy primer (PPG BRAND on all supplies except thinner to clean up)

Any aerosol can or anything that has a silicon in it will cause fish eyes in a paint finish. A no no in a paint shop.

I don't know anything about dessicants because I don't use them. I have 2 water traps, one 70 feet from the compressor and another 30 more feet away, where my paint drop is. I have valves in each corner of my work area and at the 2nd drop. 3 feet is way too close. If you are not using pipe, put it on as long a hose as you can get. My first trap (70 ft) does not release any water at all, the second is for insurance. Your problem is your setup, not the gun. I'm not bragging, but I believe I have seen only two fisheyes in the 9 years I have been doing this. That was in the topcoat. I didn't even know they would show in primer. Use good water traps, not $25 ones. BUT, with the trap 3 ft from the compressor I don't think you are seeing fish eyes, but damage from water, you can't blow all the water out of the lines, it has to be captured in the water trap. Yours is going through the trap and ending up in the air supply to your gun.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I will modify air supply lines before painting again. I am doing this in a small car and a half garage, and I do have WD 40 in shop. I cleaned and cleaned but I guess there is always possibility of contamination.

I think water in the paint tends to cause more "bubbles" on the painted surface" than fisheyes. He's getting oil or silicon, or contaminants from the atmosphere.

Omni/ppg epoxy should dry to a "matt" finish not shiny. Don't know what to tell you there. I use a 25' coil of air hose lying on the cold cement floor as a "condenser" between compressor and first filter/dryer. You have to cool that air to get the moisture out. My worst "fisheye" problem ended up being caused by the deoderant/anti-perspirant I used! Turn out it had silica as a main ingredient. Doesn't wash out of the armpits of cloths so builds up over time and falls out when you reach out over a car to paint it. I changed deoderant and wear disposable coveralls and cured the problem. It's a fussy bussiness!

I agree, but the closeness of the water trap to the compressor is a red flag. Possible but not probable that he is getting oil from the compressor. I have used oil, penetrants such as WD 40, and other nasty stuff in my 30X30 work area, which is also my painting area -- I don't get fisheyes, but I don't use those products prior to painting. But, I also have good exhaust fans, which will suck any impurities out of the building.
