A friend has the head off of his Massey 44 and in for a valve job. The tractor has an M&W 4 1/16 piston & slleve set. Any low $ tips to help give a bit more power and torque? He is working on a very low budget.

Thank you.

Shave the head, then remove the eyebrow around the intake valves, cut the valve guides back flush with the head (on the inside of the ports) then get out the die grinder and start porting and polishing. Get a carb off a 1650 ollie, and either put a k&n filter on or gut out your oil bath air cleaner Then either get a pertronix setup or get new points and condensor and tune it up.
