I have a John Deere 60LP that I want to use for stoneboat pulling. The motor needs to be rebuilt. I would like to get some more power out of it, do you build a propane motor in the same maner as a gas?

Yes but why? For stone boat pulling you don't need HP. You need traction and balance in order to use that creeper 1st gear.

I would like to pull with another club that has a transfer sled. They have about 5 pulls about 10 min. from my place.

Power-bloc & more compression. Nail head shaped intake valves. Use a larger valve seat cutting tool and remove about 1/8 or 3/16" from the "eyebrow". Three angle valve job. Match the carb, manifold & heads so there are no sharp edges. Blend all the rough edges and casting flash out of the ports. Install a cam from Robert's Carburator. Dry aircleaner conversion from Albert. Up the LP vapour flow in the carb using 720 LP orfices. Maybe even larger to prevent leaning out? Pertronix ignition modual and matching coil, solid plug wires and 3116 Autolite plugs. Tune and dial in the whole combo on a dyno instead of guessing. Remember. You are not working with a engine design for racing. That engine was made to burn cheap oily sludge the refineries had no market for in the 1930's and 40's.
