Are wheel weights or other weights better? I think that wheel weights aren"t so good but i am not sure.

Wheel weights - easier on the axle bearings
Suitcase weights - easier on you back
5000 lbs. on the ground = 5000 lbs. on the ground.
Wheel weights go only one placc.
Suitcase weights go about anywhere.
Balance is one of the biggest variables in tractor pulling. Which is better?

Personally, it is ALOT easier to move a 75 or 100# weight around. I can mount them behind the rear axle 1-2' and also on the front end to keep that on the ground (the 4" off the ground works nice for me too, much more than that and the hitch lowers and you loose the "leverage" that you gained by having your hitch as high as you can leaglly have it).

I've had the mounts for the round 150's on the rear axle, and there alweys seems to be at least one weight that didn't want to slide on nice and if you make them too loose, that isn't the best either.

I guess just thinking about it, I'd rather see alot more people use the round weights, then when I want to purchase more suitcase weights, they aren't so expensive!!

we started using some wheel weights this year.not as easy to handle. but it does put the weight on the rear wheels, without alot of stress on the rest of the tractor. with antiques you don't turn the wheels fast enough for the weights to hurt. you still need hanging weight to balance the tractor. just my 5cents worth.

What they both said. That's why people take off the heavy cast wheels and replace them with lighter stamped steel wheels. It allows them to put that same amount of weight where it is more advantagess. Since the tractors rotating axis is the rear axle, then the distance from that axis that the weight is placed effectively creates leverage which when done right will help get the total weight of the tractor on the rear wheels with the fronts no more than 4" off the ground.

IF you want to put the weight on the ground wheel weight are the best BUT if you want to use the force or the leveage hanging weight are the best. now what do you think?

You have to turn the wheel weights with the engine, not so with suitcase weights. Now what do you think?
