Flyin Farmall You said-

"Why don't you guiys use a dyno aftr the hook?? We have been putting them on a dyno for years, and the only complaints, are from the guys that are over.If they don't pass the dyno the are out, plain and simple!!"

How do you do this? What HP can different tractors have and be legal? Do you have a HP range per class or what? What do you do if a tractor has no PTO? Do you dyno after every hook?

Thanks for all the info you can give me on this BUDD

I only Dyno the winning tractors, someimes a few more,if need be! I go by the M&W hp charts, and go by the newer models, example,Oliver 77 would get super 77 specs,M Farmall would go by super M.Every one of them has the super kit,or M&W style kits,so that is what I use.We have a stock class, with stock hitches,tires,weights,3mph,ect.The dyno has proven to be about the fairest way to even the field.Any more questions, feel free to e-mail me.

mlpankey Just to set you straight Every season I pull is a winning season as long as I do not break my tractor and no one gets hurt! I had a good season. I do not need to win to have fun, I have fun letting kids pull my tractor and seeing the look on there face.. CAN YOU SAY THE SAME? I am on the board for our club and we are trying this year as we have in the past to keep a level playing field. To change rules or make new ones we need all the info we can get. My email is open if you have something to say to me.

I've been reading all of this stuff and I don't have a dog in the hunt. Why not 3mph speed limit and go with that? Of course you'd also want the limit on tire size, non-cut tires, drawbar height/length, etc. I understand that speed has an advantage, but not at 3mph. That's why you don't see huge cube Molines, Ollies, Cases, Farmalls, etc. pulling light classes 3mph. At least I've not seen it. You might see it in the 8500 lb. range and up, or you might have the huge cube 2-banger Deere, but I've not seen any advantage with that either. These guys pulling tractors in the 8 and 12mph classes won't pull in a 4mph class most of the time because of the fear of being embarrassed by a "slowpoke." I don't blame them either. If my tractor pulled 8 and 12mph, that's where I'd be. I've been beat by tractors that will go 8mph, but it wasn't because they will go 8mph. It was due to many other factors, i.e., tires/traction, improper balance of my tractor, choosing a bad line on the track, etc. Two weeks ago, I stood my tractor straight up and still was only 6 feet out of first place. My tires were sticking like glue. I had a good line but misjudged my weight placement. At 336 cubes, I was probably the smallest tractor in the class, but I think I would have won that class if I would have placed my weights correctly. It was a 4mph class with some tractors that will make 8mph easily. Speed limits don't kill the monsters, but it injures them more than any other weapon I can think of.
