Have you ever built any plastic models as a kid and put on decals? If so, this is really no different. It's honestly been awhile since I did any of the water transfer decals on a tractor... but anyway the gist:

Clean the surface you intend to apply the decal to (make sure it's oil and grime free). Soapy water works, (or maybe isopropyl alcohol) rinse then dry) Trim the decals up to fit the desired area. (Remember any excess "clear" can/will be visible). If your doing a "farmall" for example, keep the letters together in one strip, just trim around the ends etc.

Start by only doing one decal transfer at a time. Don't throw them all in the water at once. Soak decal in warm water until backing paper loosens (approx 2 minutes), but do not remove paper yet, until ready to place onto intended surface. It can stick itself together without the paper and pity if it does.

While decal is soaking, use a spray bottle to moisten where the decal is going to go. When decal is ready, you will place decal near intended surface that it goes on and slide it off backing sheet or peel side back and "stick" decal to surface as you gently pull off backing. Work slowly, and keep the surface wet as you slide the decal around to the place you want. Use a squeegee, plastic bondo spreader, or maybe a credit card to work out any bubbles. Be gentle as you can tear the decal if worked to hard. Once this starts to dry there is no moving it aound so keep it wet while you get it leveled etc. If you get a bubble that you can't work out, use a sharp small needle and "pop" it, then work the decal down. Folds and creases can be difficult to work out, so just try your best to avoid them. Just remember to keep the surface moist as you work along.

I hope this helps...

when i worked at a Dodge dealer shop, i had to replace the wood grain decals on station wagons and vans. They are like decals, only a bit heavier. I used a soapy water mixture, soaked the rolled up decal in it, then using a sponge, i doused fully the door panel with the mixture. Then i peeled back the backing paper on one end, and wet the outside, then gradually worked the backing off, while squeegeeing the decal into place. I got good at it! I also had to replace the water wave decals on the Polar Water company trucks, after repainting them. Worked the same way, so your decal job should, too.
