The 411R has a 138.5 cubic inch 4 cylinder diesel that develops around 45 horsepower @ 2500rpm. It is a very simple conventional mechanically injected cast iron pushrod motor. They have 3 low range forward gears and one lowrange reverse and three high range forward gears and one high range reverse. These gears work in an unusual way with only one gear lever to shift them and no separate lever to select high and low range. It runs a 24 Volt electrical system, with two forwad headlights and one on the mudgaurd, however most no longer have the one on the mudgaurd. There is no canopy however ther are points to mount one. The radiator is fairly large for the engine and a four blade fand cools the engine well. There is a PTO and the lever to ingage it is on the left hand side under the seat. There are also hydraulics and their lever is on the right hand side of the seat. The idle speed can be controled with a hand throttle located on the lower right hand side of the instrument pannel. A foot throttle is also provided. A tacho rests in the center of the control pannel with a temperature and oilpressure gauge on either side. The iginiton key hole is on the top of the insrument pannel along with a switch for the lights. A samll lever is also located on the insrument pannel, it is a cold start fuel primer and the engine stopper. At the top of the pannel is a spring-loaded rotating metal switch, first position (normal) is run, one click on is "glow", and the final click on is "start". Last but not leas there is a small light at the top of the instrument pannel for working at night. There is quite a large fuel tank above the engine itself and three fuel filters. The inital filter is a small screen filter on the right hand side in a glass bowl and the two dual secondary filters are paper ones, side by side on the right hand side of the engine. The oil filter is situated on the forward upper left hand side of the engine just behind the radiator. The air fitler is directly opposite on the other side and is an oil bath filter instead of the normal paper one. No turbo is provided. All lubrication is done with grease except for the engine which is oil. The oil must be filled up through the very large dip-stick hole on the left hand side of the tractor. The hydraulic pump uses engine oil and is located on the lower front right hand side of the engine, just infront of the injector box. The two metal hydraulic hoses run, side by side to the rear of the tractor to lift the arms. Seat is metal mounted on a rubber shock absorber. Left and right hand brakes are standard with a device to lock them together. Clutch is of the two plate variety and it is slightly hard to depredd the pedal fully. Two small tool boxes are provided on either side in the mudgaurds. Muffler is on the left hand side and goes straight up. A loop is provided on the front of the tractor to snig things and a draw bar is provided on the rear. Originally the engine, gearbox, diff, radiator and pumps were painted a creamy colour and the mudgaurds, bonnet, side pannels and seat were an orrange colour. The 411R was a diesel tractor, the 411RG was alegedly a gas engine variant (although I have never seen one), and the 411C was a small track machine fitted with a bulldozer blade. The 411C was the same as a 411R except it had an extra hydraullic pump for lifting the blade and it drove tracks instead of rubber tyres. Everything else (engine, pannels, gearbox, everything) is the same a a 411R. The 411R was built for two or three years in the early 1960's. 1963 was one year and 1964 was too from memory. When new they had FIAT written inwhite on a black background on the side of the bonnet followed by 411R written in black. Even though itis only 45 horsepower this is on mighty little machine and is well worth getting. Very relable, tough and long lasting, on eof the best little tractors EVER built by ANYONE.
