Thanks for both your replies. I have been working on this for the last few hours!

I've just implemented something very similar to what you suggested Indy John, without requiring registration.

On both the classified ads and the photo ads, email addresses are no longer exposed to the public. Basically, when you click on the link to send email you are taken to a form where you enter your message and YT will forward it to the email recipient.

Only YT knows the email address and it is stored in a secure area.

That is Phase One, there is a lot of room for upgrades and enhancements if anyone would like to comment.

Thanks again for your comments, I hope this helps some. Let's take the internet back from the scammers and spammers!

At the risk if being redundant, why use email at all for responding to ads? We all seem to have telephones, and I've never yet gotten as much information as I would like by exchanging emails (at least, without exchanging a bunch of them, over several days time). I'd much rather talk to someone, and that also effectively foils the scammers. Just because we have all this technology, it doesn't necessarily follow that we must always use it, if low tech makes more sense in a given situation.
