Sept. 11, 2001 I was on a day off from my job as a locomotive engineer.

I could not believe what I was seeing on TV.
I had been inactive with my volunteer fire department for 2 years. I went to the firehouse and watched the events on TV with other volunteers, young and old.

I can't remember another time when I saw a grown man cry.

I requested to be placed on active status.

We will not forget. We have not forgotten Pearl either. Just like Pearl Harbor has become ingrained in our history so will 9-11.

I write this from my seat at the watchdesk at the greatest job in the world.

DCFD Enigine Co. 16. First due to the White House.

God Bless America!
Dave

I had two good friends there that day. FDNY Firefighter Paul Tegtmeier was lost without a trace leaving a widow and two small children. The other was flying a helicopter directy underneath the first plane when it hit. He landed at Teterboro Airport and, even though accustomed to combat flying (47 Air Medals), it took him until about 5PM to compose himself sufficiently to drive home.

What about Pearl Harbor. Most people dont remember Dec 7 1941,but buy jap cars.Twenty years from now people will be driving cars made by Ben laden or some Saudi firm. The hijacker were Saudis and yet no war was declared on them.I dont think anyone will ever forget exactly where they were when the planes hit the towers. That you never forget.

dr, no toyotas in my drive either - At least Pearl Harbour was against a military target [I lost an uncle there] not against civilians at work. What I find worse about the Japanese is the Batan death march, the REAL story of the bridge on the river Kwai, the rape of Nanking,on & on. Too bad the A bomb wasn't ready for Okinawa, would have saved thousands of Americans. A man lives just up the road from me, lost his young son on 9/11, just out of college, landed a good job with Cantor Fitzgerald. I don't know how he deals with such a senseless loss.

I had an Uncle, (Dad"s brother) who was at Pearl, actually Wheeler field, when the Hawaiian Islanes were bombed. While he survived, he tells only of having to identify and help bury many of his comrades. another Uncle, (Mother"s brother) was on Bataan, and earned a Gold star on the War memorial. I can"t even begin to imagine the hell he experienced before he died. I also had an uncle on Guam and a cousin on Iwo Jima. I"m sure they also experienced hell on earth. Unfortunately the earth"s ills were not entirely eradicated, even with a couple of A bombs, so 60 years later our magnificent heros are continually calle upon to do freedom"s work. 9/11/2001 as well as 12/7/1941 must never be forgotten, otherwise our heros, fallen or otherwise have all died in vain, and we deserve not another sacrifice.

A few strategically placed daisy cutters at the

When I think of 9-11 I think that there should be pictures of mid-east terrorists stacked up like cordwood, all dead of course. I think that the war on terrorism is way too politially correct. If I was prez Bush I would have said, "NOW HERE THIS-- ALL TERRORISTS ARE TO BE EXTERIMATED, COURTESY OF THE USA ARMED FORCES. ALL WEAPONS ARE TO BE USED INCLUDING NUKES" If you mess with the best you will die like the rest.

My partner and I were sent down to NYC about 1:00PM that day, along with around 500 other NYS Troopers. What I saw over the next few weeks amazed me. I'll never forget, and I'll never forgive, and I'll never understand those who say we should "let it go".

I would like to let it go. The button on the bomb I mean. The whole eastern world, it is exploden, violence flarin, bullets loadin,..... oh but I digress. That whole area of sand over there would make a right good glass parking lot wouldn't it? Yep I'm with you unpolitically correct guys. Ifn you wear your laundry on your head, you go back to where you came from. We got enough "wearin my shorts down around my knees" over here that are ours, let alone the rest of the world's debriss. I was out on a load, driving a mixer truck that day. I remember. My dad remembers where he was at when the little slant-eyed buggers visited Pearl Harbor too, and through association, I really like them too. Harley

I will never forget or forgive either. I was driving a beer delivery truck that day in Jeffersonville,In across the river from Louisville. I will never forget the planes circling to land on the Presidents orders. It
was the most sickening and horrific feeling I
have ever had. I hope there is never a reason to
feel that way again.
