problem with hauler

Here"s the problem, I signed a contract back on the 9th. of November. We agreed on a price and He had asked to give him 2 weeks. It"s been 19 days and now he"s trying to back out on the deal. In his contract he states " We keep our word and ask you keep yours!". I thought I was dealing with a reputable company. I would pick the tractor up myself but I don"t have the time off to drive 1036 miles 1 way.
Now what?

If you really want to check this carrier out go to www.safersys.net. Then put in the carrier name, you can find out all you need to know here, including if they are revoked or carry enough insurance. Great sight to check out carriers.

First , take the contract to him in person and ask him if that's the way he does bussiness. You say he's trying to back out , either he IS backing out or he ISN'T. I don't see room for grey area here.Make him commit one way or another. If he then says no , then explain to him how his good bussiness practices WILL be his demise , and then make good on that. ( ie,bad word of mouth) then go to the next one. You can't MAKE someone haul for you!!

Charles, i agree with allen, swat the fly move on .maybe if you push the issue with this company parts might come up missing on the tractor or worse. sand . start fresh over just my 2cents doug

Call Rick Lee. He is the best hauler for up here in the northeast. I think he does south and mideast too. He is in the hauling schedule section

if the contracts final then he has to do it even if it kills him or they should pay someone else to do it if it was me i would drive the miles and go for a one way a** wipping and then have them haul my tractor back what is the name of the company if you dont mind me asking also try taking it up with the better buisness bur. or the BBB

Well, the Companys name is Commercial Recycling. They pick up side hauls in between hauling steel. The guy claimed he runs 45 trucks and it would not be a problem. I'm in Texas and he's in Harrodsburg Kentucky. That's the problem.

Let it go. The man doesn't want to do it. Why start a mini-war?

Put an ad over in the hauling section of this page and you'll have a freighter ringin' your phone in 24 hours.

I wouldn't waste a nickel's worth of sweat over this deal. Life's too darned short, Pard.

'Course they will; it's your money. Take the check with the backing slip right back where you got it and tell 'em what happened. They will refund you. Probably cost ya the $6 fee tho.

Anyway, get this monkey off your back and start a new day.

Sorry you had to go thru this ordeal with this deadbeat; it really sux.

Your remedy would be to sue him for your damages, which is the difference between what he was going to charge you, and what you ended up paying with another carrier. If the second carrier was actually cheaper, you've got no damages. You can't actually make him do the haul, as its a personal service contract. And you'd have to sue him in Kentucky, to boot. I think Allan's on the right track here.

The man has already made that contract into a bird cage liner.

I would suppose you could pursure the issue, but do you really want to? Just sounds like a big mess to me.

I'd swat this fly and be done with it.

Thanks for all the replys guys, I have a trucker bringing it down later this week. For less then the other Company was going to charge to boot! I guess things happen for a reason.
